5 Reasons I Still Use Instacart (And You Should Too!)

As you can see from my post last October about Instacart, I'm a huge fan of the grocery delivery service! And almost one year later, I'm still a huge fan. If you are on the fence about Instacart, I have for you five reasons I use the service over and above most other delivery services, such as Amazon Prime Now.

1) Chatting with my shopper.

One of the biggest reasons I use this service is I can chat with my shopper WHILE they shop. This is huge and one of the biggest reasons I am staying with Instacart. Why is this a big deal? Well here's three reasons why I love this feature -

1) If I forget to add something to my order, I can message the shopper while they are shopping to get it for me.

2) If they can't find an item on my list, and I'm not a fan of the replacement item they find, I can message them asking about other options.

3) I can answer their questions. Sometimes shoppers want to know about the specifics regarding something I'm looking for and I love being able to answer these questions! I would rather they ask and not guess.

Amazon prime does not do this. The shopper will let you know if they can't find a replacement but it isn't as much of a back and forth conversation as Instacart. Plus with Amazon Prime Now, you have to respond very quickly. Instacart Shoppers also have an obligation to call you (if you opt in for that in your settingS) with any replacement items they choose if you haven't already approved an item.

2) Selecting replacement items.

I have used Safeway.com and Amazon Prime Now and neither one let you call out the specific replacement item you want. That is an huge feature to Instacart that I love. I like letting the shopper know what specifically I want (or don't want) for each item if they can't find the original selection.

Again, Amazon Prime does let you say if you are okay with them selecting replacements, but Instacart let's you choose specific replacements per each item you are purchasing. Safeway.com doesn't let you select replacement items specifically, only if you want the same brand or size.

But again, Instacart is the only service I have used that let's you say specifically what you want as a replacement, or if you just want them to make their best choice on a replacement or if you don't want the item replaced at all. This is a fantastic feature to me!

3) Requesting items not listed on their site.

Sometimes I will know a store so well, I'll know they have an item I'm want. That item isn't always listed on the Instacart site for whatever reason but the thing I appreciate the most is that Instacart allows you to make a special request and describe the item you are looking for, where the shopper can find it, and how much of it you want. They even let you provide an image of what you are looking for.

4) Shop from multiple stores.

I'm usually shopping through two stores, Whole Foods and a local market specific to my area called New Seasons. But did you know you can also shop through multiple stores? I will sometimes do this method to price compare! I found if I want a specific sauce, one store will sometimes have it a bit cheaper. Or if I want a generic product (not specific to a certain brand), like toilet paper, I like to see what options I have.

It can be a bit expensive to shop multiple stores because you pay separate delivery fees and separate tips (per store). However, for convenience purposes, it's an incredible feature. For me, since I don't have a car, I would either have to Uber from store to store or take public transit. While public transit saves money, taking groceries on the bus isn't easy especially if I'm purchasing a lot.

5) You don't need to be a member to use it.

For Amazon Prime Now, you have to be a Prime Member to use it. Same with Shipt, too. For Instacart, while they do have an Express service you can sign up for, you don't have to be a member to use the service. You can sign up for a free account today and get your groceries!
Plus you can get your first order delivered FREE if you haven't ever shopped with them before!

As you can see, I'm a huge fan of Instacart. They've had some changes along the way since I've started the service, for example their service fee is now something you can't waive. But the quality of service has not changed. Again since I don't have a car, the convenience of the service means so much to me. I appreciate all the shoppers that shop for me. Also, one other huge perk is that if ever I have not been pleased with something I've received or if an item was missing, they are so prompt about giving me credits back to my account. So the customer service for Instacart is also excellent.

Have I convinced you? Go ahead and get your groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour with Instacart!
